Dipika studied classical singing at the KASK Conservatory of Ghent and the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp where in 2003 she graduated with honors her ‘Master in Singing’. After graduating cum laude as a professional Opera Singer Dipika continued mastering her craft by attending international masterclasses and singing & drama lessons from internationally renowned Opera Singers, Coaches and Conductors. Aged 20, she sang her first principal role in the Opera L’Enfant et les Sortilèges (M.Ravel) at Opera Vlaanderen (Dirk Brossé). That same year Dipika recorded the album ‘More is in thou’ with music of composer Dirk Brossé.

Dipika was selected as one of the soloists for the succesproject Sounds of Silence and performed with the worldfamous chamber orchestra I Fiamminghi in Japan (Rudolf Werthen). During her studies she sang many concerts with Arte Vocale (Erika Pauwels), a project she continued during her career. Enchanting theaters and Opera Houses in Belgium (Ghent) and The Netherlands (Tilburg, Amsterdam) Dipika embodied the role of Michaela in La Tragédie de Carmen. At the Opera Do Porto (Portugal), she sang the role of Leonora in Il Trovatore (G.Verdi) and the role of Michaela in Carmen (G.Bizet). Next to her passion for Opera, Dipika loves to sing Operetta, Lieder and Musical. As an Operetta Singer she sang many roles in theatres and operetta companies in Belgium. In the contemporary musical Peer Gynt she lent hear voice to the role of Ase and Ingrid (W.Soenen). As a Lieder Singer, Dipika performed recitals with the famous Simoens trio, chamber orchestra I Fiamminghi (R. Werthen) and CascoPhil (B. Haemhouts) and often sings recitals accompanied by piano. Recent years Dipika sang various concerts at the Ghent Festival of Flanders with CascoPhil, piano and harp. For the French movie Une Passion she recorded music of the Opera La Traviata (G Verdi).

In 2019 a collective of performing artists met as colleagues teaching at the Kunstacademie Torhout. A Wordsmith, Opera Singer, Classical Gituarist and Pianist combine their passions for literature and music to create Compagnie Ruiter. Together, they induldge the artistic need to bring their story to the scene. Currently touring Flanders with their first production Platero ,coached by Flemish actor and theater maker Jos Verbist, ex-artistic leader of Theater Antigone (Kortrijk).

Together with her sister Jyoti Singh, a passionate jazz singer, Dipika created a musical theater production, combining their love for Opera and Jazz music. The Singhing Sisters present ‘Opera meets Jazz’ is a story of love in which the biggest cliches of Jazz and Opera singers are musically enlarged by The Singhing Sisters! Next to successful performances in Belgium, they conquered the stage no less than 9 times at Fringe Festival in  in Adalaide, Australia.

In the course of 2016-2019 Dipika was a member of the musictheater production Utopera. 

 

Currently she is a permanent contributor of Close Opera. In addition to multiple successful productions, Dipika contributed during the 2024 Opera Workshop Dido and Aenaes as directing assistant. To share her passion and connaissance with the next generation, Dipika combines her professional singing career with a teaching career at the Academie of Music, Drama and Dans in Torhout and Merelbeke.
